Safety

Excellence. Everywhere. Every Time.

At Elder, safety isn’t just a policy, it’s how we operate. Whether we’re moving dirt, laying pipe, or wrapping up a jobsite, we stay focused on what matters most: getting everyone home safe at the end of the day to the ones they love.

We make safety smarter, not harder, by equipping every foreman and field lead with a utility locator and having our Safety and GPS teams work side-by-side to plan and track jobsite risks. We conduct monthly check-ins with utility owners to prevent issues before they happen. To keep things efficient, we’ve implemented the Noviqu System company-wide, giving our teams digital access to permits, safety forms, training materials, and reports all in one place.

We’re not here to just tick boxes; we’re here to make safety smarter, more accessible, and always at the forefront of everything we do.

What Safety Looks Like at Elder

We take pride in going above and beyond industry standards:

    • First in our industry (heavy highway + utilities) to require Type 2 hard hats on all jobs
    • “Storm Trooper Protocol” for gas-powered saws — motorcycle chest protectors and full face shields (yes, we know it looks intense — that’s the point)
    • 100% of new hires complete a 5-hour orientation before stepping onto the job
    • Follow-ups at 30 and 60 days to make sure new hires really understand our programs and expectations
